Lessons from the Spring Garden: New Beginnings Are Part of God's Design

There is something sacred about spring. After the stillness of winter, the garden comes alive again - quietly at first, then all at once. Tender shoots push through hardened soil. Buds swell and open. What once looked barren now promises abundance.

God often teaches us His deepest truths through creation. Scripture tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1, KJV). There's no better time to realize this than Springtime in the garden.  If we’re willing to slow down and pay attention, the garden becomes more than a place to grow living things—it becomes a classroom and reaffirms our faith.

One such life lesson that we are taught in the garden is that New Beginnings are Part of God's Design.

Spring is God’s annual reminder that new beginnings are always possible. Did you know that many plants go dormant in the winter?  Yes, they appear to be dead, but they are not.  They are  simply resting and waiting for the right season to renew and regrow.

In our own lives, winters come. We experience seasons of loss, disappointment, grief, or waiting and these situations can make us feel stuck or hopeless. Yet Scripture assures us that God is always at work beneath the surface. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”(Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV).

Just as no amount of tugging can force a seed to sprout before its time, God’s plans unfold according to His perfect timing—not ours. Spring teaches us patience and trust, reminding us that renewal often begins where we least expect it.

If you’re in a season that feels barren, don’t lose heart. God specializes in resurrection and renewal (Isaiah 43:18–19).

We planted this Katy Apricot only a few years ago.  Look at it in full bloom!  An amazing new beginning!
